Operation West Virginia (OWV) is a church planting movement under the banner of the Central District of the C&MA. This movement was born in 2000 with the aim of re-evangelizing the 1.8 million people of West Virginia by planting a Great Commission church in every one of its 55 counties. Rev. Ken Kelley serves as the full-time Advance Leader of OWV, working out of Buckhannon, WV. Ken may be reached at 304.884.8179 or by e-mail at operationwv@juno.com. Since the beginning of OWV, churches have been planted in Salem, Rosedale, Eleanor, Huntington, Sutton, Philippi, and Martinsburg.

Dear Prayer Warriors,
Blessings to you and your family—I hope you have had the chance to spend some time away from work with your family and friends munching on hamburgers & hot dogs, vacationing, or just relaxing around the house. I have tried to get some time on the river fishing and it certainly has been good for me. We live in a wonderful part of the world where the four seasons allow us a diverse range of activities. We are a blessed people aren’t we? I wanted to give you a few things to pray about that are happening around the state.
McDowell County:
Please pray for Dan Gottron as he goes for an interview Thursday July 23 at 2:00….He is interviewing to be a Social Studies teacher and Volleyball coach. Also please pray for the four teachers who applied this week. Pray that they would get an interview very quickly. There will be more positions posted in the next few weeks. Please pray that the right teachers would still be available and that they would be hired for this school year. We also have two teachers who will graduate in December who want to apply if positions are open—and several others who will graduate May 2010 who are interested. Who knows, we may have enough teachers interested to help the surrounding counties as well. Wouldn’t that be sweet? There are three Math positions open at Mount View High School, but we don’t have any Math teachers in the mix. Will you pray that the Lord would send some Math teachers our way with a missionary mindset?
Charles Town—Jefferson County:
Please pray for our upcoming Bar-B-Q August 8th at Jamie & Denise Beatty’s home. They have been inviting their friends from soccer & their home school group, as well as neighbors & coworkers. Please pray that “seekers” would decide to attend. Pray that we would be able to cultivate some good friendships and conversations that will generate interest in our bi-weekly gatherings. Pray for Denise as she has opened up her pool two days a week and has been having some good spiritual conversations with ladies around the pool. Pray as well for Jamie and Denise as they reach out. They are realizing how difficult it can be when you are living in a very fast paced, self centered community. Pray that they would see fruit for their labors.
Huntington—Missio Dei:
New Life Community Church from Fredericktown, Ohio came and put on Sports Camp last week for Missio Dei. There were six kids make POF—PTL!! Please pray for Pastors Mark White and BJ Erps as they follow up with the families of all the kids who attended the camp. This week Youth with a Mission is in Huntington helping Mark & BJ reach out to Hite Sanders Elementary School by doing some painting and building book shelves. Please pray as well for Ambryann White who will be having their second child August 27th by C-Section. Sarah Erps is due with their third child the end of December. Please pray for healthy babies and moms.
Rosedale Alliance Church:
Living Water Church from Dalton, Ohio returned to Rosedale this year to put on another community wide Bar-B-Q, a carnival for the kids, and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. It rained, but they went on with the festivities. 85-100 people still came and undaunted they played, ate, visited in the rain or huddled under the pavilion. Please pray for Pastor Trevor & Emily Morris as they continue to make inroads into the lives of the families of Rosedale. Pray as well for the upcoming Car Show / Primitive Craft Show / Rosedale Road Yard Sale sponsored by the church August 22nd. Pastor Trevor keeps getting more & more opportunities to get into the lives of the men of the Rosedale community—May this be a fruitful Summer and Fall!!
Petersburg—Grant County:
Unfortunately, the remodeling of the Senior Center where we want to meet has been very slow, so we haven’t been able to start our weekly gatherings there yet. I am reminded that I am not in charge and when the time is right, the Senior Center will be ready. I must admit though…..I am a bit impatient. Will you pray with me that all the details will come together at the right time and that I will not be a whiner? It’s not like I can make anything happen anyway!
Thank you so much for praying. I was at an event where the President of the C&MA spoke this past weekend. It is encouraging to know that he and his staff pray consistently together and we were reminded that they make their decisions after praying. When I heard this, I thought of you and how you petition the Father on behalf of the 1.5 million Mountaineers who were not in church this past Sunday—May we continue to keep them in mind everyday as we go to work or participate in other activities. Will you join me in praying that the Holy Spirit will begin stirring the hearts of Mountaineers from Charles Town to Charleston, Weirton to War, and all the communities in between…..that 2009 would be their year of Jubilee!!
Your fellow Prayer Warrior,
Ken
